A Night of Culinary Magic Awaits Guests Of The

2016 Golden Foodie Awards
Announcing the Nominees, Presenters and Food and Drinks of the 5th Annual Golden Foodie Awards



Orange County, August 22, 2016-- The Golden Foodie Awards is very excited to announce the 2016 nominees and presenters. The winners in 24 categories will be awarded during the 5th annual award show at The Fairmont Newport Beach on Sunday, September 25.  The Golden Foodie Awards honors and celebrates chefs, bartenders, food and drink of chef driven and independent restaurants in Orange County, California.

The September 25th red carpet affair will be joined by the who's-who in the culinary world, including the celebrity master of ceremonies, Simon Majumdar from the Food Network. Guests are welcomed on the red carpet with Roca Patron, Ketel One cocktails and premium wines while they are led to the outdoor garden overflowing with fabulous food and drinks.

The Golden Foodie Awards will kick off with tantalizing food and libation stations for guests to enjoy. Ketel One craft cocktails, Roca Patron Cocktails, Maker’s Mark, wines by Alpha Omega, Villa San Juliette, Cherry Pie and La Gordonne Rose.  Kean Coffee will have a pour-over coffee bar .  Some of Orange County’s finest restaurants will be serving phenomenal food. Restaurants and food that will be enjoyed are: Sealeg's Wine Bar, SeaSalt, The Wild Artichoke, Waterman's, Skyloft, Napa Rose, Carthay Circle, Urbana, Villa Roma, Lillie's Q, Puesto, The Pint House, Prego Ristorante, Anqi, Grit's, Melissa's Produce, Sadie Rose Breads and Provenance. 

Fairmont Newport Beach Executive Chef Brian Doherty will be grilling on DCS Grills, offering a Live Station with Hand Made Tortilla's with Charred Corn Masa. Gringo Bandito Rubbed Grilled Lobster, Crispy Suckling Pig, Coffee Rubbed Carne Asada, Served with Pico De Gallo, Sweet Grilled Onion Salsa, Charred Corn Salsa, Wild Mushroom Salsa, Gringo Bandito Infused Fire Roasted Salsa, Black Tomatillo Salsa Pepper Cheese, White Cheddar, Chipotle, Fresh Lime Cilantro, Avocado Lime Guacamole, Massive Chicarrones, Crispy Plantain, Veggie Chicarrones, Five Crispy Tortillas.

During the Awards ceremony, guests will delight in more glamorous bites and drinks including Pommery Champagne, VOSS Water, Golden White Chocolate Pillows, Chocolate Saucisson's by Mixed Bakery, Argentine Alfajores by Villa Roma, Muscato Grapes and Premium Nut's from Melissa's Produce, Fruited Breads and assorted Cheese from Sadie Rose, Gourmet Cookies by Sweet Mission Cookie Co. and Toffee by B.Toffee.

Immediately following the awards show is an unforgettable after-party. Hosting the 5th annual event is Simon Majumdar a world renowned broadcaster and author who has dedicated the second half of his time on this planet to fulfill his ambition to “Go Everywhere. Eat Everything.” The entertaining Awards will feature local celebrity presenters announcing the winners in all categories. Each winner will be presented with the Golden Foodie Award statuette covered in 14-carat gold. The event honors and celebrates culinary talents by embodying the community in ‘peer’s choice’ vote for the Chef of the Year Award and Pastry Chef of the Year Award. The other categories are the ‘People’s Choice Food Awards’ and voted on by the food loving public.

Voting For The People’s Choice Food Award’s Begins August 1st  2016
The Golden Foodie Award’s Celebrates Chef Driven and Independently Owned Restaurants

 

Orange County, 2016 — As we lead up to the 5th annual Golden Foodie Awards on September 25th, local food enthusiasts are invited to vote for their local culinary favorites in August.  The Golden Foodie Awards are comprised of 24 categories, that the food loving public is tasked to vote for.  The GFA’s celebrates the region’s independently owned and chef-driven restaurants.

“Orange County is an incredible culinary community; our vibrant dining scene is ever expanding. Food has this incredible power to connect all of us and the Golden Foodie Awards really celebrates that,” said Pamela Waitt, creator and co-producer of the Golden Foodie Awards. Today, foodies from around the Nation, look to our chefs and bartenders as they re-interpret classic dishes and libations, as well as craft bold new concepts that spice up menus across the country.”

The Golden Foodie Awards is a democracy; the People’s Choice Food Award’s recognizes the best chefs, libations and cuisine at chef-driven and independent restaurants. With its focus on involving the Orange County community to vote, the GFA’s serve as the highest honor allowing the people to decide who is best. Winners will be announced on September 25th at the red carpet gala. Hosting the awards is Simon Majumdar a world renowned broadcaster and author. Simon is a well-recognized personality on the Food Network, regularly appearing on shows such as Iron Chef America, The Next Iron Chef, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Cutthroat Kitchen, Extreme Chef and Beat Bobby Flay.

The 2016 voting period will run Aug. 1 through 21, with nominees announced at the end of each voting week; winners will be announced on Sept. 25 at the awards gala. Connoisseurs of cuisine and lovers of libations will have a chance each week to vote for their favorites among the following 21 categories:

The Winners Of The 2016 Golden Foodie Awards Are...
An amazing night of culinary magic was experienced by all



[Orange County, Calif] - The 5th Annual Golden Foodie Awards was a night to remember as it celebrated local culinary experts on Sunday, September 25th at the Fairmont Newport Beach. The sold out show played host to Orange County’s culinary elite who sipped on spectacular cocktails and delicious food. The red carpet affair awarded Golden Foodie Statues made out of pewter and plated in 14K Gold to the winners.
 
The event kicked off as guests were posing for premiere press photographers as they snapped photos on the red carpet. Heads turned as the talented who’s-who joined the affair. The red carpet was full of Orange County chefs and food celebrities such as Simon Majumdar, known as the Food Network’s ‘toughest critic’ and Master of Ceremonies for the night’s event, Aarti Sequiera, Food Network host and cookbook author, Penny Davidi, Celebrity Chef from Food Network's The Next Food Network Star, Marcel Vigneron, Celebrity Chef and restaurateur was on Top Chef, Top Chef: All Stars, The Next Iron Chef walked the red carpet. Wing Lam, of Secret Millionaire on ABC and Co-Founder of Wahoo's Fish Taco, Neil Saavedra, Host of The Fork Report with Neil Saavedra, Dexter Holland, best known as the singer, rhythm guitarist, and primary songwriter for the punk rock band, The Offspring, Television and film director and producer and regular judge on So You Think You Can Dance, Nigel Lythgoe OBE PhD  and many more. Holland’s Gringo Bandito hot sauce and Lythgoe’s wine, Villa San-Juliette was featured at the Golden Foodie Awards.
 
Prior to the Awards, guests indulged in an overwhelming array of food and drink stations on the elegant patio of the Fairmont Newport Beach. Delicious bites were featured from some of Orange County’s best restaurants. Guests quenched their thirst with Kean Coffee, VOSS Water, Ketel One craft cocktails, Roca Patron Cocktails, Maker’s Mark and wines by Alpha Omega, Villa San-Juliette, Cherry Pie, La Gordonne Rose and Layer Cake.

The doors into the ballroom opened to reveal beautifully decorated tables showcasing a cornucopia of desserts, savory snacks and libations. Golden Pillow of Silky white chocolate with Citrus Hazelnut Financier by Executive Chef Brian Doherty.  Muscato Grapes and Premium Nuts by Melissa's, Chocolate Saucisson by Mixed Bakery, Fruited Breads and Assorted Cheeses by Sadie Rose, Gourmet cookies by Sweet Mission Cookie Co., Alfajores by Villa Roma, and B. Toffee adorned the tables. Guests toasted the evening with a glass of Pommery Champagne and sipped on cold VOSS water.


The ballroom filled with love and laughter as Simon Majumdar warmed the crowd and guests laughed at the video series Simon Says: Golden Foodie Awards.  Celebrity guests, top chefs and food industry icons presented awards in 24 categories of culinary excellence. All winners took home extravagant prizes including the Golden Foodie Statue and a custom bottle of Maker’s Mark that was dipped in black and gold.  


The extravagant evening continued as guests flooded out of the ballroom and onto the decked out patio under the night sky to enjoy a Speak-Easy themed after-party that included the DCS Liquid Lounge featuring the Liquid Chef, Maker’s Mark Lounge, Patron XO Cafe Milkshake Bar, Roca Patron Cocktails, Ketel One Craft Cocktails, Cherry Tart Wines and Kean Coffee served Golden Rush Cold Brewed Float. Night Bites were by Zov’s and Macallans. Swanky music by DJ Miss Ninja had guests swaying and magnificent lounges by Sweet Salvage Rentals created a sexy vibe. Guests celebrated under the star-lit sky and spoke of a culinary night to remember.
